Street Takeovers Injure Two Cops In Newark, 5 Arrested: Police
Five people have been arrested for their role in two street takeovers that occurred in Newark last November and last month, authorities said.
On Sunday, November 24, at 1:02 a.m. police responded to Miller Street near McCarter Highway after receiving reports of erratic driving by multiple drivers, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. said.
The suspects began to flee when police arrived, Miranda said. Wyatt Bowden, a 19-year-old Somerville resident, drove over the foot of a Newark police officer, Miranda said. A pursuit ensued and Bowden was taken into custody, Miranda said.

A 38-year-old Hillside man was arrested and charged with breaking into a vape shop in Union Township on Thursday, Sept. 26, and other burglaries that occurred last month, authorities said.
At 5:07 a.m., police responded to Kush Smoke Shop on Route 22 and found the front door of the business had been shattered by a large rock, and saw a person, later identified as Hasan Williams-Chapman running from the business, Union Township police said.

At 2:42 a.m., police spotted a 2018 Jeep Wrangler that had been stolen from Jersey City last month at a gas station on Route 3, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said. A 38-year-old passenger was killed and the driver seriously injured in an overnight crash on Route 80, authorities confirmed.
Richard Bahamonte of Hillside was pronounced dead at the scene of the eastbound crash near the Teaneck/Ridgefield Park border west of Exit 68 just after 3 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, NJ State Police said.
The driver, Julio Brito, 40, of Hasbrouck Heights, lost control of the Honda, which careened off the road, slammed into a concrete barrier and ended up on its roof, they said.

A man fatally shot his wife's lover and then himself over the weekend in Newark, sources tell Daily Voice.
Terrance Carroll, 51, killed Isaiah Cobb, 33, of Hillside, before turning the gun on himself around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10, on the 100 block of Shephard Avenue in Newark, according to Daily Voice sources with direct knowledge of the incident.

A 52-year-old Atlantic City man wanted in a shooting has been arrested, authorities said.
John Coles was charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses in the March 23 shooting, Atlantic City police said on Monday, April 10.
Officers located Coles in the 1400 block of Atlantic Avenue. Coles was arrested without incident, police said.
